A critical seat is suddenly empty
Resignation, illness, dismissal or a promotion that moved faster than succession planning. The role must be covered credibly and quickly, with a clear mandate from the first day.

A CFO resigns on the eve of the audit; a CTO leaves mid-migration; a subsidiary needs a COO tomorrow. Interim leadership is a promise of speed. Our task is to ensure the organization keeps that promise. We define the interim mandate, identify and assess suitable senior interim executives, and, when an interim mandate is already under way but not delivering, offer a structured diagnosis and reset.

A carve-out, an ERP or cloud program, a turnaround: a defined mandate with an end date, requiring someone who has led it before.
The permanent search will take months. An interim executive holds the line, stabilizes the team and prepares the ground for the successor.
The mandate was unclear, the organization did not follow, or the fit is wrong. You need a clear diagnosis and a reset (or a controlled handover) quickly.
Our view: when an interim mandate stalls, the instinct is to blame the person. In our partners’ experience the mandate itself is often at fault: too broad, agreed with one sponsor and not the team, or quietly redefined after week two. Diagnose first. A replacement without a diagnosis usually reproduces the problem with a new face.
Briefing with the CEO or board, a search for suitable interim executives, partner-led assessment and a clear mandate definition before the start.
Every interim starts with a written mandate: objectives, decision rights, stakeholders, 30/60/90-day milestones. An interim assignment without one is hard to steer.
For running mandates: a structured diagnosis across mandate, organization and person, one direct alignment conversation with all parties, and a reset or transition plan, on a timeline agreed at the outset.
Where the answer is a permanent successor, we run the search in parallel and manage the handover so momentum is not lost.
A credible leader for the seat, and a mandate designed to succeed.

Suitable senior executives, identified for your mandate, interviewed by a partner and reference-checked before you meet them.
A monthly partner review with the CEO or board, early warning on mandate drift, and a clear extension or exit path.

The right instrument depends on the problem. We will tell you if it is not an interim.
| Instrument | Best for | Accountability | Time horizon |

| Fractional executive | A part-time senior capability: e.g. a CFO two days a week for a growth company | Line accountability within agreed days | Ongoing, part-time |
| Management consultant | Analysis, options and recommendations | Advisory, no line authority | Weeks to months |
| Permanent hire | Long-term leadership and culture building | Full, indefinite | Months to hire · years in role |
A Swiss specificity: companies incorporated in Switzerland must have at least one person resident in Switzerland with authority to represent them (Art. 718 para. 4 CO). Where relevant, the interim mandate should take this requirement into account.
Switzerland, Germany and Austria, plus international assignments for groups with European operations. Interim executives are available for onsite, hybrid and cross-border mandates in English and German.
